RESUMO

To investigate the HPV vaccine coverage and post-vaccination adverse reactions in Gansu Province, Western China, from 2018 to 2021. Data on suspected adverse reactions to HPV vaccines were collected from the Chinese Vaccine Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI). Estimate the incidence rates of Common Adverse Reaction and Rare Adverse Reaction. HPV vaccine coverage among females in different age groups was calculated using data from the Gansu Provincial Immunization Information Platform. The first-dose HPV vaccine coverage rate among females aged 9 to 45 was 2.02%, with the lowest rate of less than 1% observed in females aged 9 to 14. From 2018 to 2021, the incidence rates of Common Adverse Reaction and Rare Adverse Reaction reported in females after HPV vaccination were 11.82 and 0.39 per 100,000 doses, respectively. Common Adverse Reaction included fever (5.52 per 100,000 doses), local redness and swelling (3.33 per 100,000 doses), fatigue (3.15 per 100,000 doses), headache (2.76 per 100,000 doses), as well as local induration and nausea/vomiting (1.97 per 100,000 doses). Adverse reactions mainly occurred within 1 day after vaccination, followed by 1 to 3 days after vaccination. The HPV vaccine coverage rate among females aged 9 to 14 in Gansu Province is remarkably low, and there is an urgent need to enhance vaccine coverage. From 2018 to 2021, the incidence of Adverse reaction Following Immunization HPV vaccination fell within the expected range, indicating the vaccine's safety profile.

RESUMO

To reduce the health risks of exposure to Cd and Pb in wheat, a field experiment was conducted to investigate the differences in Cd and Pb bioaccessibility among the grains of 11 wheat cultivars and their relationships with the nutrient compositions of grains. The grain concentrations (Cd: 0.14-0.56 mg kg-1, Pb: 0.08-0.39 mg kg-1) and bioaccessibility (5.28-57.43% and 0.72-7.72% for Cd and Pb in the intestinal phase, respectively) of Cd and Pb differed significantly among the 11 cultivars. A safe wheat cultivar (Shannong16) with a relatively low health risk and the lowest grain Cd and Pb concentrations was selected. Ca, Mg, phytate, and methionine played key roles in affecting Cd and Pb bioaccessibility in wheat, with Ca and phytate significantly negatively correlated with Cd and Pb bioaccessibility. These findings can be used to optimize the selection strategy for safe wheat cultivars for healthy grain production in Cd-polluted farmland.

RESUMO

Large areas of crop yields in northern China have faced with cadmium (Cd) contamination problems. Mercapto-modified palygorskite (MP), as a highly efficient immobilization material, could reduce Cd absorption in wheat and alleviate its biotoxicity. However, the molecular mechanism underlying MP-mediated Cd reduction and detoxification processes in wheat is not well understood. This aim of this study was to investigate the biochemical and molecular mechanisms underlying the reduction in Cd accumulation in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The results showed that MP application decreased the Cd concentration by 68.91-74.32% (root) and 70.68-77.2% (shoot), and significantly increased the glutathione (GSH) and phytochelatins (PCs) contents in root and shoot. In addition, with the application of MP, the percentage of Cd in the cell walls and organelles of wheat decreased, while that of Cd in soluble components was increased. The content of Cd in all components was significantly reduced. Ultrastructural analysis revealed that MP thickened the cell wall, promoted vesicle formation in the membrane and protected the integrity of intracellular organelles in wheat. Transcriptome analysis further confirmed the above results. MP upregulated the expression of several genes (CCR, CAD COMT and SUS) involved in cell wall component biosynthesis and promoted vesicle formation on cell membranes by upregulating the expression of PLC and IPMK genes. In addition, genes related to antioxidant synthesis (PGD, glnA and GSS) and photosynthesis (Lhca, Lhcb) were altered by MP to alleviate Cd toxicity in wheat. This present work will help to more thoroughly elucidate the molecular mechanism by which wheat defends against Cd contamination under MP application and provide and important research basis for the application of this material in the future.

RESUMO

The plant rhizosphere underlies the crosstalk between plant and soil and has a crucial role in plant growth and development under various environments. We examined the effect of temperature rise on the rhizosphere environment of soybean roots to clarify the rhizosphere crosstalk between roots and soil in response to warm temperature rises in a global warming background. The in situ results of root enzyme activity revealed that soybean roots secrete ß-glucosidase, and enzyme spectrum imaging demonstrated different enzymatic activities under different temperature environments. The soil enzyme kinetics results showed that soil enzymatic activity increased with increasing temperature, and soybean rhizosphere soil enzymatic activity was higher than that of non-rhizosphere soil. Rhizosphere soil and non-rhizosphere soil showed that the dominant bacterial phylum in soybean rhizosphere soil was Acidobacteria, and the dominant bacterial genus was JG30-KF-AS9. Compared with non-rhizosphere soil, rhizosphere soil was more nutrient-rich, and root secretions provided abundant carbon sources and other nutrients for soil microorganisms in the rhizosphere. Rhizosphere microorganisms affect plant growth by influencing the decomposition of soil organic carbon. The organic carbon content of rhizosphere soil was higher than that of non-rhizosphere soil under high temperatures.

RESUMO

Selenium (Se) fertilizer has been recently used to reduce cadmium (Cd) accumulation in plant. A pot culture was performed to analyze Cd uptake, translocation, and distribution in wheat plants during the reproductive growth period in a Cd-contaminated soil after selenate was applied to the soil, and a hydroponic culture was carried out to investigate the effects of selenate application on Cd2+ influx, subcellular Cd distribution, and Cd accumulation in wheat seedlings. Results showed that selenate application had no significant effect on DTPA-Cd and Cd fraction in soil. The application of selenate greatly inhibited the whole-plant Cd absorption by 14%-23%. In addition, selenate prompted the retention of Cd in root by increasing the Cd distribution in the vacuole, which reduced the root-to-shoot Cd translocation by 18%-53%. The application of selenate increased the Cd concentration in nodes, inhibited Cd remobilization from nutritive organs to grain, and ultimately reduced Cd accumulation in wheat grain. Further, heading to grain filling was the key growth stage for exogenous selenate to regulate grain Cd accumulation. In summary, soil selenate application is an effective method to reduce grain Cd concentration in wheat, which provided scientific basis for remediation of Cd-contaminated soil.

RESUMO

Cadmium (Cd) contamination in wheat fields has become a major environmental issue in many regions of the world. Mercapto-palygorskite (MPAL) is a high-performance amendment that can effectively immobilize Cd in alkaline wheat soil. However, MAPL as an in-situ Cd immobilization strategy for alkaline wheat soil remains to be evaluated on a field-scale and the underlying mechanisms requires further evaluation. Here, MPAL were used as soil amendment to evaluate their immobilization efficiency on Cd-contaminated alkaline soil in the field experiments. The field experiments showed that MPAL application significantly reduced wheat grain Cd concentration from 0.183 mg/kg to 0.056 mg/kg, with Cd concentration in wheat grain treated with MPAL all falling below the limit value of 0.1 mg/kg as defined in China's food safety standard (GB 2762-2022). The maximal immobilization efficiency of MPAL on soil Cd figured out by diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) extraction was 61.5%. The mechanisms involved in Cd immobilization by MPAL were mainly related to the enhanced sorption of Cd onto Fe oxides, and the removal of amorphous or free Fe oxides from soil had a substantial impact on Cd immobilization efficiency by MPAL. Furthermore, the antagonistic effect between Mn and Cd uptake may also contribute to the reduction of wheat Cd accumulation after MPAL application. The current research can provide theoretical and technical support for the large-scale application of MPAL in Cd-contaminated wheat fields.

RESUMO

For the deterioration model of a material, it is crucial to design a validation experiment to determine the ability of the deterioration model to simulate the actual deterioration process. In this paper, a design method of a validation experiment for a deterioration model is proposed to obtain the experiment scheme with low cost and satisfactory credibility. First, a normalized area metric based on probability density functions for the deterioration model is developed for validation results quantification. Normalized area metrics of different state variables in an engineering system can be applied to a unified evaluation standard. In particular, kernel density estimation is used to obtain smooth probability density functions from discrete experimental data, which can reduce the systematic error of the validation metric. Furthermore, a design method for the validation experiment for the deterioration model is proposed, in which the number of experimental samples and observation moments in each experimental sample are design variables, while the credibility of the validation experiment is the constraint. For the experiment design, the problem with varying dimensions of design variables occurred in the optimal design. Thus, a collaborative optimization method using the Latin hypercube sampling was developed to solve this problem. Finally, the results of the two examples showed the characteristics of the proposed metric and also reflected the correlation between the design variables and experimental credibility.

RESUMO

Atom doping has been realized as an effective way to improve the photocatalytic performance of the most promising photoanode material, BiVO4, but the effects of doping mass concentration still need to be explored. In this work, the effects of F-doping with different doping mass concentrations (1%, 2%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) on the electronic character of BiVO4 were examined theoretically using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The thermal stability of BiVO4 with different F-doped mass concentrations was confirmed using formation energy (Ef) calculations though F-doped BiVO4 becomes harder as the mass concentration of induced dopants increases. n-Type doping effects on the electronic character of BiVO4 were observed upon F-doping, leading to the energy level of CBM shifting far away from the Fermi level and giving F-doped BiVO4 metallic character. Moreover, a linear relationship between the frontier energy level shifts and the total charge transfer amounts from doped F atoms to other atoms involved in F-doped BiVO4 was observed, which means the oxidizing capacity of the VBM is increased and the reducing capacity of the CBM is decreased upon increased F-doped mass concentration. Moreover, the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs is suppressed by F-doping strategies, which will not change a lot with the increased F-doped mass concentration. This means atom doping is an effective strategy to improve the photocatalytic efficiency of the BiVO4, but the number of atoms introduced into BiVO4 should be appropriate.

RESUMO

Mercaptosilane-modified palygorskite (MP) can immobilize Cd in acid soil and reduce the enrichment of Cd in rice. However, the immobilization effect and its durability on alkaline field were unclear. Meanwhile, whether MP could reduce Cd in different wheat parts at different stages also needs further exploration. Here, we determined the dynamic change of Cd in soil and wheat at different periods, studied the interaction mechanism at key organs, and calculated the contribution of coexisting metals on the reduction of Cd to study the effect of MP on the transfer of Cd in soil-wheat system. Results showed MP was highly effective to immobilize Cd in alkaline farmland and could take effect during the whole growing season but not change pH values. DTPA-Cd and EXE-Cd of soil were reduced by 34.88-49.71% and 49.36-84.81%, respectively, while OX-Cd was increased by 34.61-43.60% at the whole stages. Cd in grains at maturity stage was reduced from 0.118 to 0.069 mg/kg, lower than the limit standard of the China and Codex Alimentarius Commission (0.1 mg/kg). Root and nodes were critical organs influenced by MP to reduce Cd in grains, and the reduction efficiency on wheat was relatively weak at flowering and filling stage. MP regulated the antagonism or synergy effects of coexisting elements on Cd to modulate the Cd accumulation in grains. Besides, the contributions of different elements on Cd were also evaluated by path models. This will provide an important basis for the precision remediation of Cd-polluted alkaline wheat fields.

RESUMO

Selenium (Se) can counteract cadmium (Cd) toxicity in wheat, but the molecular mechanism of different Se forms reducing Cd uptake and accumulation in wheat seedlings remain unclear. Here, a hydroponic experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of three Se forms (selenite (Se(IV)), selenate (Se(VI)) and seleno-L-methionine (SeMet)) on Cd2+ influx, Cd subcellular distribution, and Cd accumulation in wheat seedlings, and the underlying molecular mechanisms were investigated through transcriptome analysis. Consequently, Se(IV) and Se(VI) addition significantly reduced root Cd concentration by 74.3% and 80.8%, respectively, and all Se treatments significantly decreased shoot Cd concentration by approximately 34.2%-74.9%, with Se(IV) addition having the most pronounced reducing effect. Transcriptome analysis showed the reduction of Cd accumulation after Se(IV) addition was mainly due to the downregulation of Cd uptake genes. The inhibition of Cd accumulation after Se(VI) addition was not only associated with the downregulation of Cd uptake genes, but also related to the sequestration of Cd in vacuole. For SeMet addition, the reduction of Cd accumulation was mainly related to the sequestration of Cd in vacuole as GSH-Cd. The above findings provide novel insights to understand the effects of different forms of Se on Cd uptake and accumulation and tolerance in wheat.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a highly aggressive neuroendocrine cancer with a high risk of early mortality (i.e., survival time less than 1 month). This study aimed to identify relevant risk factors and predict early mortality in SCLC patients. METHODS: A total of 27,163 SCLC cases registered between 2010 and 2019 were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) data. Significant independent risk factors were identified by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. Nomograms for all-causes and cancer-specific early death were constructed and evaluated. RESULTS: Age, sex, clinical stage, presence of metastasis (liver and lung), and absence of treatment (surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy) were identified for significant association with all-causes and cancer-specific early death. Nomograms based on these predictors exhibited high accuracy (area under ROC curve > 0.850) and potential clinical practicality in the prediction of early mortality. CONCLUSION: We identified a set of factors associated with early mortality from SCLC and developed a clinically useful nomogram to predict high-risk patients. This nomogram could aid oncologists in the administration of individualized treatment regimens, potentially improving clinical outcomes of SCLC patients.

RESUMO

It is known that the transformation of Fe and S forms in soil affects the migration and activity of Cd, but the coordinated regulation of Cd activity by Fe and S under different redox conditions is still unclear. Here, Diffusive gradients in thin films (DGT), an in-situ monitoring technique, is used to explore the difference of the regulation of Cd activity in paddy fields with ferrihydrite (FH) and ferrihydrite coprecipitated by sulfate (FH-S) under the flooding and drainage conditions. The addition of FH-S and FH significantly reduced the activity of Cd (Dissolved, Exchanged, and CDGT-Cd). Compared with pure FH, the adsorption extent of Cd in FH was enhanced by increasing concentrations of SO42- (i.e., S/Fe ratio), which is attributed to the decrease in the crystallinity of FH by sulfate. During soil flooding, the addition of FH-S promoted the production of metal sulfide (CdS and FeS/FeS2). The activity of Cd increased after drainage, while the FH-S treatment groups delayed the release of Cd. After 30 days of drainage, the concentration of Cd in FH-S treatment groups decreased by 28.9-44.1 % compared with the control group. The fresh FeS/FeS2 is not the main adsorbent for fixing Cd, and due to the existence of oxidation compensation mechanism, the preferential oxidation of FeS/FeS2 delays the release of Cd in the drainage stage. Our study shed new light on the mechanism of Fe-S synergistic regulation of Cd and remediation of Cd-contaminated soils.

RESUMO

The reduction of Cd and Pb accumulation in wheat grains grown on Cd and Pb contaminated alkaline soils is a pressing issue that needs to be solved. In this study, ferromanganese functionalized biochar (FM-BC) was used to remediate Cd and Pb contaminated alkaline soils and mitigate Cd and Pb accumulation in wheat grains. The immobilization capacity and mechanism of FM-BC were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) characterization and chemical analysis. Fe and Mn loaded on FM-BC improved the removal efficiencies of DTPA-Cd and DTPA-Pb in soil with DTPA-Cd removal of 22.99%- 52.04% (JM22) and 25.54%- 53.32 (AK58) and DTPA-Pb removal of 11.39%- 22.36% (JM22) and 5.38%- 13.00% (AK58). The FT-IR and XRD results indicated that the complexation and precipitation of Cd and Pb with the Fe-Mn oxides and the oxygen-containing functional groups on biochar surface stabilized the Cd and Pb in soil for the observation of Cd2Mn3O8, PbHPO4, CdCO3, and PbO2 on FM-BC isolated from contaminated soils. FM-BC with excellent adsorption capacity reduced the available Cd and Pb in the soil, therefore, thereby inhibiting the Cd and Pb accumulation in wheat. In the 3% FM-BC treatment, Cd and Pb contents in wheat grains were lower than 0.10 mg/kg and 0.20 mg/kg, respectively, reaching the national safety standards. And FM-BC increased the Fe, Mn, Na and Zn contents in wheat grains, and improved the growth and yield of wheat. These findings suggest that FM-BC can be considered a prospective and effective material for remediation of alkaline soils contaminated with Cd and Pb.

RESUMO

Diarylethene (DAE) is one of the most widely used functional units for electrochromic or photochromic materials. To better understand the molecular modification effects on the electrochromic and photochromic properties of DAE, two modification strategies, substitution with functional groups or heteroatoms, were investigated theoretically by density functional theory calculations. It is found that red-shifted absorption spectra caused by a decreased highest occupied molecular orbital-lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy gap and S0 → S1 transition energy during the ring-closing reaction become more significant by adding different functional substituents. In addition, for two isomers, the energy gap and S0 → S1 transition energy decreased by heteroatom substitution of S atoms with O or NH, while they increased by replacing two S atoms with CH2. For intramolecular isomerization, one-electron excitation is the most effective way to trigger the closed-ring (O → C) reaction, while the open-ring (C → O) reaction occurs most readily in the presence of one-electron reduction. Moreover, it is confirmed that substitution with strong electron donating groups (-OCH3/-NH2) or with one O/two CH2 heteroatoms leads to a more favorable closed-ring (O → C) reaction. Functionalized with strong electron-withdrawing groups (-NO2 and -COOH) or one/two NH heteroatom substitutions, the open-ring (C → O) reaction is easier. Our results confirmed that the photochromic and electrochromic properties of DAE can be tuned effectively by molecular modifications, which provides theoretical guidance for the design of new DAE-based photochromic/electrochromic materials.

RESUMO

The microscale spatial heterogeneity and complexity of soil aggregates affect the properties and distribution of heavy metals (HMs). It has been confirmed that amendments can alter the distribution of Cd in soil aggregates. However, whether the Cd immobilization effect of amendments varies across soil aggregate levels remains unknown. In this study, soil classification and culture experiments were combined to explore the effects of mercapto-palygorskite (MEP) on Cd immobilization in soil aggregates of different particle sizes. The results showed that a 0.05-0.2% MEP application decreased soil available Cd by 53.8-71.62% and 23.49-36.71% in calcareous and acidic soils, respectively. The Cd immobilization efficiency of MEP in calcareous soil aggregates was in the following order: micro-aggregates (66.42-80.19%) > bulk soil (53.78-71.62%) > macro-aggregates (44.00-67.51%), while the efficiency in acidic soil aggregates was inconsistent. In MEP-treated calcareous soil, the percentage change in Cd speciation in micro-aggregates were higher than that in macro-aggregates, whereas there was no significant difference in Cd speciation between the four acidic soil aggregates. Mercapto-palygorskite addition in micro-aggregates of calcareous soil increased the available Fe and Mn concentrations by 20.98-47.10% and 17.98-32.66%, respectively. Mercapto-palygorskite had no effect on soil pH, EC, CEC, and DOC values, while the difference in soil properties between the four particle sizes was the main influencing factor of MEP treatments on Cd in calcareous soil. The effects of MEP on HMs varied across soil aggregates and soil types, but had strong specificity and selectivity for Cd immobilization. This study illustrates the influence of soil aggregates on Cd immobilization using MEP, which can be used to guide the remediation of Cd-contaminated calcareous and acidic soils.

RESUMO

Cadmium (Cd) pollution of wheat fields is a serious environmental and health problem that warrants attention. Manganese (Mn)-containing materials are considered effective for inhibiting Cd accumulation in Cd-contaminated acidic soils. However, information on the long-term remediation effects of Mn fertilizers on Cd accumulation in wheat and on the microbial community in calcareous soils remain limited. Here, a two-year pot experiment was conducted to assess the performance of 0.05-0.2% MnSO4 addition in Cd-contaminated calcareous soils (total Cd concentration: 3.65 mg/kg) on Cd accumulation in wheat as well as on the soil bacterial community. The formation of Mn oxides and transformation of exchangeable Cd to stable Cd fractions confirmed that the application of MnSO4 significantly decreased CaCl2-extractable Cd concentrations in soil (0-47.08%). In addition, MnSO4 addition improved the antagonistic effect of Cd and Mn ions in the wheat rhizosphere by increasing the available Mn concentration in the soil (1.04-3.52 times), thereby significantly reducing wheat Cd accumulation by 24.66-54.70%. Notably, the addition of MnSO4 did not affect the richness and diversity (P > 0.05) but altered the composition and function of bacterial communities, especially those involved in metabolism and genetic information processing. Importantly, the effects of MnSO4 on Cd immobilization in soil (10.66-47.08%) and the inhibition of Cd accumulation in wheat (12.13-54.30%) can last for two years after one addition. Furthermore, the maximum decrease in Cd concentration in grains was found in the low-Cd wheat cultivar, with values of 31.39-54.70% and 19.94-54.30% in the first and second years, respectively. Based on the present findings, the combination of MnSO4 with a low-Cd wheat cultivar is effective for the safe utilization of Cd-contaminated calcareous soils.

RESUMO

The activity changes of Cd and Cu in paddy field were strongly influenced by the transformation of S, Fe and Mn species. However, in the process of soil redox, how S cooperates with Fe/Mn to regulate the law and mechanism of Cd and Cu speciation transformation still needs to be studied. In this study, we used DGT technology based on layer double hydroxides (LDHs) combined with pore water sampling to investigate soil redox changes, rice growth, and the effects of different forms of sulfur (S0, SO42-) on soil Cd and Cu activities. The results showed that the concentrations of CDGT-Cd and Cu in the soil decreased rapidly in the anaerobic stage, but increased slowly in the oxidative stage. Multiple regression analysis showed that the changes of Cu and Cd concentrations mainly depended on the changes of Fe/Mn morphology. Sulfur treatment promoted the dissolution of Fe/Mn oxides in the short term (<48 h), and the activities of CDGT-Fe, Mn, and Cd increased simultaneously, but CDGT-Cu was not affected. However, after long-term anaerobic conditions (>10 d), sulfur addition reduced the activities of CDGT-Cd and Cu, and decreased the uptake of Cd and Cu by rice. During sulfate reduction, the sulfur addition treatment group resulted in a 24.5-50.2 % decrease in CDGT-Fe, indicating that sulfur addition may delay the release of Cd and Cu after rice planting by promoting the formation of FeS/FeS2. In addition, in the anaerobic stage, Cu formed sulfide before Cd and was fixed, and the higher thermodynamic stability of CuS would promote the dissolution of CdS in the oxidation stage. Overall, soil flooding with sulfur to enhance the generation of metal sulfides and secondary iron ores provides an opportunity to use sulfur as an environmentally friendly modifier to coordinate Fe, Mn to improve heavy metal-contaminated soils.

RESUMO

Given the wide-spread consumption of wheat, the production of selenium (Se)-enriched wheat grain may be an effective method to increase the dietary Se intake in many Se-deficient areas. Herein, we biofortified wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) via the foliar spraying of selenate or selenite at low or high rate, and investigated the resulting Se distribution in different wheat parts and the crucial parts involved in grain Se accumulation. Results showed that Se concentration in grain after selenite spraying was 1.5 times higher than that of selenate. Grain Se accumulation was largely affected by leaves Se and the transfer of Se from node1 to internode1. Furthermore, the main speciation of Se in wheat grain was the organic Se. In addition, the optimal dosage was 15 g ha-1. In summary, foliar spraying 15 g ha-1 of Se is an effective and safe agronomic biofortification practice.

RESUMO

Mercapto-modified palygorskite (MP) is an efficient novel amendment with superior ability to decrease soil Cd bioavailability, but the unclear immobilization mechanism has become the bottleneck of its performance improvement and precise application. In order to clarify the Cd reducing mechanism of MP, long-term and short-term soil incubation with three types of soils (paddy soil, alluvial soil and yellow mountain soil) and sorption verification experiments were conducted to investigate the dynamic process of soil labile Cd impacted by MP and the synergetic effects on labile Fe, Mn, S and dissolved organic carbon via in-situ diffusive gradients in thin-films and soil solution sampling techniques. MP with four dosages rapidly and continuously decreased soil labile Cd contents by 14.50 % ∼ 89.16 % in long-term incubation, meanwhile low-dosage MP reduced soil labile Fe and Mn contents, but high-dosage MP increased their contents. With MP dosages increased, the effects of Fe-Mn oxides on soil labile Cd content gradually weakened. MP effectively promoted the reduction of Fe adsorbed by clay minerals and enhanced their ability to adsorb Cd. Short-term incubation showed that MP could decline soil labile Cd by 7.17 % ∼ 44.74 %, especially at the dosage 0.4 %. MP was a reduction catalyst to facilitate Fe reduction, which profited for clay minerals adsorbing Cd. The sorption experiments indicated that 0.30 % MP could adsorb 73.34 % Cd2+, promote the release of Fe2+ from the soil, and stimulate the ability of clay minerals to adsorb Cd. The results revealed that MP decreased soil labile Cd content within 2 d, and MP made soil Cd activity change out of the influence of soil Fe/Mn redox system. The mechanism will be beneficial for the large-scale application of MP in safe utilization of Cd contaminated soil.

RESUMO

In this work, a new resin gel incorporated with layered double hydroxide nanoparticles modified with diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid is developed for application in diffusive gradients in thin-film devices (abbreviated as LDHs DGT) to monitor eight anions and cations (such as Fe, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Cd, Pb, and As) in natural waters and soils. The accumulated anions and cations were quantitatively recovered by one-step elution using 0.5 mol·L-1 HNO3 with an optimized elution time of 30 min. The performance of the LDHs DGT was independent of solution pH (5-8) and ionic strengths (5-100 mmol·L-1). The capacities of the LDHs DGT for Mn(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), As(V), Cd(II), and Pb(II) individually are determined to be 202.9, 363.6, 246.9, 88.8, 99.5, 75.3, 159.8, and 671.7 µg·cm-2. During the field deployments in a nature river, LDHs DGT measured concentrations of cations and anions were almost like those measured by the traditional sampling method (except Fe(II), Cd(II), and Co(II)). In addition, bioavailable Cd measured by LDHs DGT correlated well with Cd in rice grains (R2 = 0.55), indicating that LDHs DGT is a reliable tool for assessing the risk of Cd.
